Good Ancestor Kilakila is an experimental communications cubesat offering extensive software-defined and hardware-defined radio capabilities. Built on a shoestring budget with a very rapid timeline, the satellite showcases many of the usual suspects of open hardware, including:
- LimeSDR-XTRX software defined radio
- Raspberry Pi Compute Module
- Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller
- Zephyr real-time operating system
- Raspberry Pi Camera Module
This talk will walk through a the good, the bad, and the ugly of the design process, hardware architecture, and planned satellite operations.
